WITH A KISS WE DIE

By L.R. Dorn (Matt Dorff & Suzanne Dunn)

We had such a great experience writing and publishing “The Anatomy of Desire,” we decided to use the true crime podcast format as the template for our next novel. This time we took a real-life double homicide in Virginia from the 1980s as our foundation and moved it onto the campus of UC Santa Barbara and its esteemed Department of Theater and Dance.

The title comes from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” and the lovers in this version are an acting student and a playwriting-directing student. The podcast host, Ryanna Raines, is contacted by these college lovers who are suspects in the brutal killing of the boy’s parents. They want to publicly prove their innocence and this leads the podcaster on a psychological odyssey into a web of deceits and a labyrinth of skullduggery.

For the audiobook production we cast sixteen voice actors, including six actual UCSB Theater and Dance/BFA students who voiced their fictional counterparts.
