MESSIAH: ORIGIN

Translation by Mark Arey & Philemon Sevastiades

Adapted and Edited by Matt Dorff

Illustrations by Kai Carpenter

Another collaboration with Father Mark, this one grew out of a harmony of the four Gospels that he and a fellow priest translated from the ancient Greek. This book emphasizes the beauty and inspiration of the New Testament writings and was influenced by biblical artists throughout history such as Gustave Dore, James Tissot, and Eugene Delacroix.

Illustrator Kai Carpenter’s color palette is one of my favorite elements of this graphic novel as he makes 2000-year-old stories and characters glow with a freshness and vibrance rarely seen in biblical art.
